Detailed information on the practice:
The strategy has been supporting cities, municipalities, districts, and civil society actors since 2017 in developing age- and generation-friendly neighborhoods. The goal is to create vibrant neighborhoods for all generations—areas where people contribute, take responsibility, and support each other. Neighborhood development is understood in a holistic sense, going beyond urban planning measures. It includes needs-based housing and local supply options, accessible advice services, meeting places, essential social infrastructure, a health-promoting environment, and a society based on respect and civic engagement. Neighborhood development takes place locally, with conditions and needs as diverse as the country and its people. The Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, and Integration highlights this diversity through the strategy “Quartier 2030”. The strategy considers the various needs of the municipalities in Baden-Württemberg and their civil society partnerships when designing future-proof neighborhoods. Funded digitalization projects: The establishment of a voluntary mentorship service within the neighborhood’s care structure, where volunteers assist individuals in need of support with digital technologies. A project aimed at improving the quality of life in the neighborhood through the development of community structures and networking of various stakeholders. Part of this project is the provision of an online platform for networking. The implementation of a participation platform for citizens to collaboratively shape the neighborhood with the goal of improving quality of life. A project to teach digital skills to older adults to strengthen their participation in social life. A citizen participation platform and a training program for digital competencies. A networking app for the neighborhood to provide information about support services and organize these offerings.
