Objective of the practice:
Hilver is a project that digitally supports the coordination of volunteer assistance in the neighborhood. It facilitates the coordination between volunteers and those in need of help through the use of specialized software.
Subtopics of the practice:
Geographical scope of the practice:
A variety of municipalities in Baden-Württemberg
Short summary of the practice:
Through a digital platform, volunteer helpers are connected with older adults who need assistance with daily tasks.
Detailed information on the practice:
The project supports municipalities, cities, and existing neighborhood assistance networks in coordinating and managing support services through a digital platform. An automated matching system is provided, which connects older adults who need or desire assistance with volunteer helpers. This promotes needs-based support for older individuals while simultaneously enhancing the flexibility of volunteers. The digital platform exists in the form of two apps: one for volunteers who wish to offer help and one for older individuals who need assistance with daily tasks. Older individuals who do not have access to the app can also register through their local town hall.
Resources needed:
The project is funded by the ministry for Social Affairs, Health and Integration Baden-Württemberg
Results achieved:
Through the app, more than 1,400 individuals in need of help and nearly 1,000 volunteers have already registered. In total, over 3,400 help requests have been made.
Potential for learning:
This digital form of assistance and support coordination can make a valuable contribution to improving quality of life, particularly in rural areas where the app has been partially tested. These results could be beneficial for the Apollo Project.
